Chuu Totoro / Middle sized Totoro pattern

Welcome back to my first project and the Totoro series! This week we are crocheting Chuu Totoro, the medium sized Totoro!

The materials you need: 
– a 3mm crochet hook
– blue and white yarn
– toy stuffing
– a scissor
– felt
– glue

If you are using materials you already have at hand at home, make sure the yarn and crochet hook are a good fit, you can see on the label of the yarn what kind of crochet hook you need. 

The techniques you need to know: 
– Magic ring
– Single crochet (SC)
– Increasing (2in1)
– Decreasing (2to1)

Body:
Round 1: 5sc in magic ring (5)
Round 2: [2in1] x5 (10)
Round 3: [1sc, 2in1] x5 (15)
Round 4: [2sc, 2in1] x5 (20)
Round 5: [3sc, 2in1] x5 (25)
Round 6: [4sc, 2in1] x5 (30)
Round 7-8: 2 rounds only sc (30)
Round 9: [5sc, 2in1] x5 (35)
Round 10: [6sc, 2in1] x5 (40)
Round 11: [7sc, 2in1] x5 (45)
Round 12-19: 8 rounds only sc (45)
Round 20: [7sc, 2to1] x5 (40)
Round 21: [6sc, 2to1] x5 (35)
Round 22: [5sc, 2to1] x5 (30)
Round 23: [4sc, 2to1] x5 (25)
Round 24: [3sc, 2to1] x5 (20)

Stuff the body

Round 26: [1sc, 2to1] x5 (10)
Round 27: [2to1] x5 (5)

Sew the hole shut

Ears (2 pcs):
Round 1: 3sc in magic ring (3)
Round 2: [2in1] x3 (6)
Round 3: [1sc, 2in1] x3 (9)
Round 4: [2sc, 2in1] x3 (12)
Round 5-7: 3 rounds only sc (12)

Stuff the ears and sew them onto the head.

Tail:
Round 1: 4sc in magic ring (4)
Round 2: [2in1] x4 (8)
Round 3: [1sc, 2in1] x4 (12)
Round 4: [2sc, 2in1] x4 (16)
Round 5-7: 3 rounds only sc (16)

Stuff the tail and sew them onto the body

Belly:
Round 1: 6sc in magic ring (6)
Round 2: [2in1] x6 (12)
Round 3: [1sc, 2in1] x6 (18)
Round 4: [2sc, 2in1] x6 (24)
Round 5: [3sc, 2in1] x6 (30)
Round 6: [4sc, 2in1] x6 (36)
Round 7: [5sc, 2in1] x6 (42)

Sew the belly onto the body and embroider the blue pattern
